# Company data valuation service: what is on offer

> A company data valuation service gives you an estimate, never an offer. Calculator forms, buyer pricing and success-fee advisors compared on what each asks.

## The short answer

Three kinds exist. Calculators turn headcount and years into a range. Buyers set price after intake. Success-fee advisors take a percentage, agreed in writing. All return estimates, not offers. No outcome promised.

[Troveo's guide](https://www.troveo.ai/resources/how-much-is-company-data-worth) says buyers rarely start from a rate card, so any outside number opens a conversation, and that matches how I'd read one. Facts below are self-reported.

## What kinds of valuation service exist?

**Calculator forms.** [Handshake AI](https://joinhandshake.com/ai/data-partnerships/) asks for headcount, years and country, and shows $383,083 to $896,969 for 100 staff and 10 years.

[Troveo's scope step](https://www.troveo.ai/business-data) gives a directional range and needs no access to your systems. The same forms collect your contact details, as the [price calculator page](/answers/company-data-price-calculator) shows.

**Program offers.** micro1's David Revland, who works on human data, said in an undated recorded forum talk that it sends a payment proposal after a data manifest form.

[Mercor's page](https://www.mercor.com/data/) says compensation depends on data volume, the tools you connect and the depth of your data. [Handshake AI says](https://joinhandshake.com/ai/data-partnerships/) its payout depends on the data, its due diligence and your acceptance of its terms.

**Success-fee advisors.** An advisor usually runs a fit check and a discovery call, then charges a percentage of what you receive, agreed in writing. Ask for the percentage and when it is due before the first introduction. The [advisor page](/answers/data-licensing-advisor) has the rest of the questions.

## What does a valuation service leave out?

Rights, most often. A calculator works from a few typed answers, so it can't inspect your systems or confirm which records can be licensed. Whether you may license anything at all is a lawyer's question, so I'd run the [rights check](/rights-check) first.

## What do we do?

The fit check, a discovery call, the tools, the guides and introductions are free to your company.

The [fit check](/business) scores your answers about your records and, when your answers allow one, shows micro1's own published range with its source. It does not estimate your payout. The company you license to sets the figure.

If you want help with the file, [managed readiness](/managed-readiness) is an optional paid service.

It produces five pieces: a buyer one-pager, a systems inventory, questions for your counsel, a buyer shortlist with each buyer's current criteria, and a term-question checklist.

We build them from descriptions and counts, never records, and deliver in 2 to 3 weeks with two rounds of revisions.

It can still end in a no from every buyer. We never take a percentage of your deal, and we give no legal advice.

## What should you ask any valuation service?

- What the number is built from.
- Whether it asks about your rights.
- Who receives your contact details.
- What it costs and when you pay.
- Whether a buyer has agreed to the figure.

Talk to a privacy or commercial lawyer in your state before you sign.

micro1 may pay us a referral fee if a company we introduce goes ahead with it. [How we are paid](https://vaultfish.com/disclosure)

Figure: comparison of Three kinds of company data valuation service: Calculator form (Headcount and years), Buyer pricing (emphasized: The buyer sets the price, Set after intake), Success-fee advisor (Share of payout). Buyer pricing is emphasized because the buyer is the one who sets the price.
