## The short answer

Defined AI marketplace lists datasets for AI training through four reviews ending in ethics and compliance check. Defined.ai reports 65% revenue growth and $85M raised, figures about the company that predict nothing for your company. Commission unpublished. Requires consent documentation and commercialization rights.

[Defined.ai](/buyers/defined-ai) shows up in searches next to the company-data buyers, but it sits in a different lane. It lists datasets that a business has already packaged and cleared for licensing.

## What is the Defined.ai marketplace?

Defined.ai provides AI training data through a data marketplace. It also sells custom services such as data collection, annotation and evaluation. Its [release](https://defined.ai/press-room/defined-ai-reports-sixty-five-percent-revenue-growth) reports three numbers:

- 65% revenue growth in 2025
- 143% net revenue retention
- a 1,200% rise in third-party partner datasets on the marketplace

It says it has raised $85M in total. Its [partner page](https://defined.ai/partnerships) also quotes what partners take in. I leave those figures out, because one company's revenue predicts nothing for yours. I found no audit of any of them.

## How does a business license data there?

Its [data partner page](https://defined.ai/partnerships) says any business that generates or aggregates data can apply. The data can be audio, video, image, text or multimodal.

Figure: steps Create account, market review -> Data quality review -> Ethics and compliance check. Defined.ai describes a process from account creation to a compliance check before a dataset is listed.

Partners must show the data is "ethically sourced, including proper consent, documentation, and the right to commercialize" it for AI training. The marketplace lists what it is seeking, including cinematic video, anime-style imagery, code and STEM content.

## What does it charge?

The partner page does not state a commission or fee structure. Without that number you can't compare it with other marketplaces. Ask for the revenue split and payment timing in writing. For another marketplace's disputed rate, see [Datarade marketplace](/answers/datarade-marketplace).

## Does it fit a company with Slack and email archives?

A company archive is a different asset from a packaged dataset. I found no Defined.ai program for it. Consent documentation is a stated requirement there. Messages written by employees and customers raise exactly the consent questions in the rights check.

The [buyers directory](/buyers) compares buyers that run company-data programs. The [rights check](/rights-check) shows what to confirm before any listing.
