## The short answer

Partly. micro1 staff said any industry can join, yet micro1's data partnerships page lists six areas. Mercor's page lists eight sectors. Polyshares labels four self-reported deals by sector. We found no source that ranks industries.

Industry shows up in the buyers' wording. One buyer labels its published deals by sector, and no buyer ranks industries.

> **Labs say they want the chain from a request to a deliverable across tools.** Think of the attic. Buyers care less about which street you live on and more about what is in the boxes.

## What does micro1 say about industry?

[micro1](/buyers/micro1)'s [data partnerships page](https://www.micro1.ai/data-partnerships) names six areas: software and engineering, finance and accounting, customer support, sales and CRM, legal and contracts, and operations and logistics.

micro1 staff said in an undated recorded forum talk that any industry can take part (self-reported, recording date not stated).

The page says price depends on dataset size and volume, workflow complexity, data quality, domain expertise represented and uniqueness. Domain expertise is a pricing factor. No source says which domains count for more.

The [requirements page](/answers/micro1-data-partnership-requirements) puts the talk's and the page's statements side by side.

## Which sectors does a micro1 referral partner name?

In a micro1 video, a referral partner said any owner interested in AI can take part in practice. Her own pipeline is mostly tech-enabled B2B services, home services, and lending and finance (about 4:48).

She told two stories of unnamed companies, a New York loans company and a Florida pool builder (about 8:44 and 18:18). Both are unverifiable, and neither is evidence of a price.

## What do other buyers list?

[Mercor's data page](https://www.mercor.com/data/) names legal, healthcare, finance and insurance, professional services, manufacturing, retail and e-commerce, real estate, and logistics and supply chain. [Handshake AI](https://joinhandshake.com/ai/data-partnerships/) says "every major industry."

[Polyshares](/buyers/polyshares)' [homepage](https://polyshares.com/) says any business with real operating history qualifies, in any sector, and names construction among them. Its [case studies](https://polyshares.com/track-record) list four perpetual exclusive licenses by sector: a roofing company at $450,000, a general contractor at $300,000, a solar company at $275,000 and a global marketing agency at $110,000. Companies are unnamed, the page is undated and every figure is Polyshares' own. The [construction](/answers/sell-construction-company-data-to-ai), [home service](/answers/sell-home-service-company-data-to-ai) and [architecture](/answers/sell-architecture-firm-data-to-ai) pages cover the fields nearest those deals.

## Has an unusual industry drawn bids?

Yes. Spirit Airlines, an airline, drew bids of $10M from Google, $7.5M from [Mercor](/buyers/mercor) and $12.5M from micro1 ([Fortune](https://fortune.com/2026/09/14/micro1-tries-to-beat-googles-bid-to-buy-bankrupt-spirit-airlines-data-for-12-5-million-highlighting-value-of-data-to-ai-companies/)). The sale is pending and ran through bankruptcy, so it says little about an ordinary operating company. See the [Spirit page](/answers/spirit-airlines-data-sale).

_"Any industry" is a welcome mat. Prices live somewhere else._

## Which work do AI benchmarks miss?

Most of it, by Mercor's count. Its [Benchmark Map](https://www.mercor.com/research/labor-index/benchmark-map/) (Oct 2026) checks 29 AI benchmarks against the 923 occupations in the Labor Department's O*NET list. It counts an occupation as covered when one of its tasks matches at least 5 benchmark prompts. Only 208 of the 923 pass that bar, and Mercor estimates 90% of US working hours go to tasks with little or no coverage.

The gaps sit in ordinary office work. Mercor counts 21 of 51 office and admin occupations as covered, 19 of 56 in architecture and engineering and 6 of 22 in sales. It calls the long tail of smaller, middle-income knowledge jobs undercovered.

A benchmark is a test, not a purchase. The map says where AI is hardest to measure. It names no buyer and no price, and Mercor publishes it as provisional.

## What matters more than industry?

Any industry can produce the request-to-deliverable chains labs want. See [what labs want](/answers/what-data-do-ai-labs-want-from-companies).

Rights to the records decide whether licensing can happen at all, and the [rights check](/rights-check) covers them. Regulated records such as health or financial client data add separate questions. They are covered on the [regulated data page](/answers/can-i-sell-health-or-financial-client-data-to-ai).

Figure: comparison of How three public statements describe the industries they take: micro1 forum talk (emphasized: Broadest statement, Any industry), micro1 page (Six areas listed), Mercor page (Eight sectors listed). micro1 staff said in an undated recorded forum talk that any industry can take part, while its page lists six areas and Mercor's page lists eight sectors.
