> How much does SimpleClosure cost? No price list for shutdowns, and AssetHub takes a percentage it does not publish, only on a completed deal. What to ask.

## The short answer

SimpleClosure posts no price list. Its AssetHub page says there is no upfront cost and that it takes a percentage only when assets are licensed or transferred, with no rate published. Its terms cap its own liability at the greater of six months of amounts paid or $100.

[SimpleClosure](/buyers/simpleclosure) does two jobs. It runs shutdown services for companies winding down. Its Asset Hub, [launched](https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/technology/articles/simpleclosure-launches-asset-hub-unlock-130000668.html), sells source code and workspace data from those companies to buyers. Its [AssetHub page](https://simpleclosure.com/product/assethub/) now says operating companies can license too.

## What does SimpleClosure publish about price?

For the wind-down service, SimpleClosure's [homepage](https://simpleclosure.com) names no figure. It says year-end surge pricing begins November 1 and tells visitors to lock in current pricing.

It sends them to a team call. SimpleClosure's launch page for Delaware small businesses shows no price figures either.

For AssetHub, the April launch release disclosed no pricing. Its [AssetHub page](https://simpleclosure.com/product/assethub/) now says "There's no upfront cost" and that SimpleClosure "only takes a percentage if your assets are successfully sold or licensed."

It does not publish the percentage, so ask for it in writing before you list anything.

## What do the terms say?

SimpleClosure's [terms of service](https://simpleclosure.com/tos/) contain no fee structure. They point to separate asset agreements for it.

They do contain an owner license that is perpetual, irrevocable and sublicensable. They also contain an owner indemnity and SimpleClosure's own cap of the greater of six months of amounts paid or $100. The full list of owner promises is in [reps and warranties](/answers/what-reps-and-warranties-does-an-ai-data-buyer-ask-for).

> **A perpetual, irrevocable license has no end date and no way to cancel.** It's like renting out a room with no end date. The house stays yours, but the room never comes back.

## What do owners receive?

Forbes reported, as [relayed by Gizmodo](https://gizmodo.com/failed-companies-are-selling-old-slack-chats-and-email-archives-to-train-ai-2000747916) that SimpleClosure had processed nearly 100 deals in the past year. Payouts were $10,000 to $100,000 per company.

The article does not say whether those figures were SimpleClosure's own, so read them as company-sourced.

Tiered dollar figures on SimpleClosure's [affiliate page on Dub](https://partners.dub.co/simple-closure) are what it pays affiliates, not a price list for you.

## What should you ask before you sign?

- What is the fee or revenue share on a data license, in percent and in dollars?
- Who is the buyer, and can I see the sale terms?
- How does it process personal information, and who holds the mapping?
- What does the perpetual, irrevocable license let a buyer do next?
- If a buyer is breached, who pays? See [who is liable if the data buyer is hacked](/answers/who-is-liable-if-the-data-buyer-is-hacked).

_Asking "how much?" is allowed. It is even encouraged._

Companies that are not shutting down can use AssetHub too, per its page, and they have other routes. Those are compared in the [buyers directory](/buyers) and the [guide to licensing company data](/guides/how-to-sell-company-data-to-ai-companies). The [rights check](/rights-check) asks the rights questions any of them will raise.
