## The short answer

A micro1 data top up is a possible second delivery under the partnership, about 6 months after the first transfer, covering data created since then. micro1's David Revland described it in an undated recorded forum talk. Payment, terms and whether it is optional are unknown. Ask in writing.

A corpus deal is one transfer. The top-up is the undated recorded talk's answer to what happens to the records you keep creating after it.

## What did micro1 say about a top-up?

In an undated recorded forum talk, David Revland, who works on human data at [micro1](/buyers/micro1), said micro1 may come back about 6 months after the first transfer for data created in the meantime (self-reported, recording, date not stated).

Revland framed this as part of the corpus track of the [micro1 data partnership](/guides/micro1-data-partnership), described in the [process page](/answers/micro1-data-partnership-process).

## What don't we know?

The list is longer than the list of what we do know.

- **Price.** No figure was given for a top-up. The first-deal range is on the [pay page](/answers/how-much-does-micro1-pay-for-company-data).
- **Obligation.** I found nothing saying whether micro1 must offer one or the company must accept.
- **Cutoff.** The talk gave no rule for which data counts as new.
- **Written terms.** The pages I read do not describe a top-up. That covers micro1's [data partnerships page](https://www.micro1.ai/data-partnerships) and its [referral program announcement](https://www.micro1.ai/forum/company-data-partnerships-referral-program).

## Does a top-up change the first deal?

It might, and the contract is where that would show. If the first deal grants rights to data "created up to" a date, a later transfer needs its own paper. I have not seen micro1's contract, and none is public.

## What should you ask micro1?

- Is a top-up offered, or only possible?
- How is it priced against the first deal?
- Which data counts as new, and from which date?
- Do deletion and retention terms in the first contract apply to it?

Compare this with the workflows track, which [pays by task](/answers/micro1-workflows-track) and repeats by design. Run the [rights check](/rights-check) again before any second transfer, since the systems and the people in them change. Talk to a privacy or commercial lawyer in your state before you sign.

Figure: steps First transfer, about six months -> New data accumulates -> micro1 may ask for a top-up. Revland (micro1) said a top-up would cover only the data created after the first transfer.
