# License Dropbox data to AI: reports, terms and buyers

> Looking to sell Dropbox data to AI? What you sign is a license. Troveo names Dropbox, two admin reports size it, and Dropbox's terms say Your Stuff is yours.

## The short answer

License Dropbox data to AI: start by measuring. Troveo names Dropbox. Use Dropbox's Team Storage Report to size by folder. Terms say your files are yours, with no mention of AI training. Shared files may belong to clients or vendors.

File storage holds whatever a company saved, so the first job is finding out how much there is and whose it is.

## Which companies name Dropbox?

[Troveo](https://www.troveo.ai/business-data) names Dropbox with Google Drive, OneDrive and SharePoint under documents and files. [Mercor's data page](https://www.mercor.com/data/) lists Drive and does not name Dropbox. [micro1](/buyers/micro1)'s data partnerships page does not name it either.

[Troveo](/buyers/troveo)'s listing is its own statement (self-reported). For the Google equivalent, see [Google Drive data](/answers/sell-google-drive-data-to-ai) and [micro1 and Drive](/answers/micro1-google-drive-data).

## How do you measure Dropbox storage?

[Dropbox's admin reports page](https://help.dropbox.com/account-access/admin-console-reports) describes a Team Storage Report. It breaks storage down by folder, with the path, folder type, owner, size in MB and file count.

A Member Data Report lists each member with storage used and the space limit. Reports save as CSV to a "Dropbox Business reports" folder in the admin's account, and Dropbox sends a notice when one is ready.

Summing the folder sizes gives a total you can put in an intake form. micro1's current pages state no data-size threshold, and [1 TB](/answers/does-my-company-have-1-tb-of-data) was an earlier figure from an undated micro1 forum talk.

## What do Dropbox's terms say?

The [Terms of Service](https://www.dropbox.com/terms) say Your Stuff is yours and that the terms give Dropbox no rights to it except the limited rights needed to offer the services. The terms describe those rights as hosting, backing up and sharing files when you ask.

I found no sentence on AI training or machine learning in the Terms. I did not read Dropbox's privacy policy or AI pages, so this page makes no claim about them.

## What needs a rights check?

A shared folder can hold files from clients, vendors and former staff. That is my reading of how teams use file storage. Every file has its own owner and its own contract. The [rights check](/rights-check) and [what you cannot license](/answers/what-data-can-i-not-sell-to-ai) sort them.
