# License Linear data to AI: export caps and terms

> Trying to sell Linear data to AI? Licensing is the route. Troveo names Linear, member CSV exports cap at 250 issues, and Linear says it won't train on it.

## The short answer

To license Linear data to AI, export your issues and projects. Troveo lists Linear as a tool buyers want. The CSV export caps at 250 issues for members and 2,000 for admins, so a full history needs the GraphQL API. Linear says it won't train on customer data.

An issue shows who asked for a change, who built it and how it closed. Our [Jira page](/answers/sell-jira-data-to-ai) covers what buyers have said about tickets in general.

## Which companies name Linear?

[Troveo](https://www.troveo.ai/business-data) lists Linear with Jira, Asana, Monday, Notion and Figma under work and knowledge. Mercor's data page doesn't name Linear, and micro1's data partnerships page lists project histories without naming a tool. All of it is self-reported.

## How does a Linear export work?

[Linear's docs](https://linear.app/docs/exporting-data) describe CSV exports from the command menu, from view dropdowns, or from Settings, Administration, Import Export. Members can export up to 250 issues or 200 projects. Admins and owners can export up to 2,000 issues, and guests can't export at all. The download link expires after 12 hours.

A GraphQL API is also available. A workspace with more than 2,000 issues needs it for a full history, which is my reading of the cap. The docs page carries no date.

## What do Linear's terms say?

The [Terms](https://linear.app/terms) say the customer owns all right, title and interest in its User Submissions. Linear's license to them is limited to providing the service to the customer.

The [AI Addendum](https://linear.app/legal/ai-addendum), effective the same day, says in section 13.2 that Linear will not use customer data, including prompts and outputs, to train, fine-tune or improve its own AI models. Section 13.3 says subprocessors must agree not to train their own models on customer data.

## What needs a rights check?

Issues name customers, link to support threads and quote contract terms. That's my reading of how teams use Linear. Under the Terms your company owns the submissions, but your [customer contracts](/answers/do-customer-contracts-allow-selling-data) and [NDAs](/answers/does-my-nda-let-me-sell-data-to-ai) can still limit licensing. The [rights check](/rights-check) lists the questions.
