# License Salesforce data to AI: terms, export, Slack

## The short answer

Read your Salesforce agreement first. It makes you responsible for your data's legality and gives you 30 days to export after termination. Mercor and Troveo name Salesforce accounts, contacts and opportunities. Slack's API terms bar third-party apps from using API data to train an LLM.

## Which Salesforce records do the companies name?

[Mercor](https://www.mercor.com/data/) lists Salesforce accounts, contacts, opportunities and reports. [Troveo](https://www.troveo.ai/business-data) names Salesforce, and [micro1](https://www.micro1.ai/data-partnerships) lists CRM data. All of them are companies describing their own programs.

## What does the Salesforce agreement say about your data?

[Section 6.2](https://salesforce.com/company/msa.jsp) says Salesforce acquires no right, title or interest in Customer Data beyond a limited license to run the service. Section 3.3 puts responsibility for the accuracy, quality and legality of Customer Data, and the means by which you acquired it, on you.

Section 2.5 says processing by the AI features follows your documented instructions. None of this authorizes licensing. It tells you the legal duty stays with the customer.

## How do you export it?

Setup has a Data Export Service. Weekly exports run on Enterprise, Performance and Unlimited editions, and Professional and Developer editions export every 29 days. The files arrive as CSV in zip archives, and Salesforce deletes the zips 48 hours after the email is sent ([Salesforce Trailhead](https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/lex_implementation_data_management/lex_implementation_data_export)).

## What if the company is closing?

The agreement gives you 30 days after termination to ask for your Customer Data. After that Salesforce has no duty to keep it and deletes it. Make the data decision before you cancel. Our [shutdown checklist](/guides/startup-shutdown-checklist-ai-data) puts that step in order.

## What do Slack's API terms add?

Slack's chat product sits inside the Salesforce family, and its [API terms](https://slack.com/terms-of-service/api) are tighter. They bar apps from using API data to train a large language model and from bulk exporting Slack message and file data, unless an additional agreement allows it. They cover API access by third-party apps, and I didn't verify how they treat an admin's own export.
