## The short answer

Troveo pays a revenue share on every sale, with the split unpublished, and says full-company deals start at six figures. Mercor connects to 100+ tools, says it anonymizes the data and pays by wire in two to four weeks, reportedly up to $300,000. Neither names its end buyers.

Both firms take company data. Neither names its end buyers on the pages I read.

## How does each one pay?

[Troveo](https://www.troveo.ai/business-data) says you share in the revenue on every sale. It says an exclusive license [commands a premium](https://www.troveo.ai/resources/exclusive-vs-non-exclusive-data-license). It publishes no split and charges no upfront fee.

Its [guide](https://www.troveo.ai/resources/how-much-is-company-data-worth) cites about $5,000 for a single repository as an unnamed platform's baseline, and puts shut-down startup archives at $10,000 to $100,000.

[Mercor's data page](https://www.mercor.com/data/) says payment is a wire transfer on delivery of the anonymized dataset to the buyer. That is typically within two to four weeks of the signed agreement. Pay depends on data volume, tools connected and depth. The page says connecting more tools generally pays more. It states no figure.

## What do they ask you to connect?

[Troveo](/buyers/troveo)'s calculator asks for employee count, years in operation and the systems you use. It groups the systems into eight named categories, from chat and email to finance and code. A catch-all covers internal and custom systems. It says you start with an estimate, and an assessment follows.

[Mercor](/buyers/mercor) lists 100+ supported tools, including Slack, Teams, Gmail, GitHub, Confluence, Salesforce and Notion. You connect accounts. Mercor says it extracts and de-identifies the data.

## What do they say about security and de-identification?

Mercor claims SOC 2 Type II certification, encryption in transit, per-session credentials and AWS KMS keys. It says no data leaves your systems until you approve it. All of that is self-reported. A March 2026 supply-chain attack [hit its contractor data](https://www.mercor.com/blog/update-on-mercor-security-incident/), as covered in [Mercor data breach](/answers/mercor-data-breach).

Troveo says it scrubs names, contact details, credentials and client identities under one documented standard. It says it never names your company publicly. The standard isn't published.

## What is the role of each in the chain?

Troveo describes itself as handling buyer matching, packaging and privacy review. Mercor's role is less fixed. Its page speaks of delivery to a separate buyer. Press reports show it bidding for archives itself, including [$7.5M for Spirit Airlines' data](https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysb.331039/gov.uscourts.nysb.331039.1489.0.pdf). Ask each firm whether it is the buyer or the seller's agent in your deal.

Figure: comparison of Two ways company data reaches an AI lab: Troveo (emphasized: Pays again on every sale, Pays on each sale), Mercor (One wire payment). Troveo is emphasized because its pay repeats on every sale, while Mercor pays by wire on delivery.
