What you get

Example result, fictional company

Ready after prep

Example only. A fictional company with 38 people.

  • Fits: the headcount, history and systems that buyers' published criteria ask for.
  • Still open: how easily the records export, and the buyer's own rights and quality review.

This is a preliminary screen based on your answers. It does not establish licensing rights, buyer acceptance or a valuation.

Next step: tidy the exports, then ask counsel to sign off the exclusions.

  • A label. Potential buyer fit, More information needed, Clarify rights first and the rest, each with its own color.
  • micro1's published range, when your answers allow one. With its source and check date. It does not estimate your payout.
  • A short fix list. The one or two things that would move your result the most.
  • A report you can print. Share it with your accountant or your lawyer.

What each result means

Potential buyer fit.

Nothing in your answers rules out a first conversation. Each buyer still runs its own review.

Questions about the check

Do I need to upload anything for the fit check?

No. The check only uses your answers. We never ask for your data, and nothing in the check touches your systems.

What happens to my fit check answers?

Your fit check answers stay in your browser until you hit send. Then Matt reads them so he can reply.

Can a small company license its records?

A small company can license its records when it meets a partner's minimum. Each partner sets its own, usually a headcount and years in operation, and acceptance depends on its own review and current demand. A company under a partner's minimum should expect a no from that partner.

How does Vaultfish make money?

The fit check, a discovery call, tools, guides and introductions are free to your company. Managed readiness is optional, scoped and quoted in writing before you pay. Partners may pay us a referral fee if a company we introduce goes ahead with them. We never take a percentage of your deal, and we do not negotiate for you.

Is the fit check legal advice?

No. We gather facts and checklists and never judge a specific contract. That call belongs to your lawyer.

How does the fit check score work?

Five of the seven answers are scored: company size, years of records, systems, outcome linkage and exportability. The personal-data answer takes points away. The rights and regulated-data answers add no points and work as gates that hide any range. This is a preliminary screen based on your answers. It does not establish licensing rights, buyer acceptance or a valuation. The methodology page shows every number.
