What is a Handshake AI data partnership?
Handshake AI is the AI arm of Handshake. Its data partnerships page says it licenses operational data from businesses, removes identifying details and formats the records to specification.
It delivers them to "frontier AI labs for training and evaluation under contractual confidentiality." It adds that "partner companies are never identified" (Handshake AI).
What are the requirements for a Handshake AI data partnership?
Handshake AI's referral page says it is "looking for companies with 20+ full time employees & 3+ years in operation." The data partnerships page itself states no minimum.
Its calculator asks for headcount, years of operation and country, with the USA, Canada, Europe and other as the options. How that floor sits beside six other programs is in do you qualify for an AI data program.

The page says the preparation work "happens on our side," so you transfer the data as it exists today. The referral page adds that the team reaches out within 1 to 2 days of a referral.
How much does Handshake AI say it pays?
The stated range is "$100K to $4M+ depending on the data shared." Its calculator example, 100 employees, 10 years and the USA, shows $383,083 to $896,969.
The calculator calls that "an indicative estimate only and is not an offer to purchase your data." Pay varies with data sources, volume and quality, its due diligence and your acceptance of its licensing terms.
Its FAQ says payments follow defined delivery milestones. Payment typically comes 30 to 60 days after Handshake accepts the de-identified dataset.
Where do Handshake AI's own pages disagree?
Handshake AI's fellowship page shows "$500M+ payouts made," up from the $100M it showed on earlier reads. Handshake AI's company referral page shows $250M paid out to partners.
Each number may cover a different group, and neither predicts what your company would receive. Neither page says which group it counts.
What does Handshake AI say about privacy risk?
It says "no de-identification process eliminates that risk entirely." It adds that a third party might re-identify personal information by combining it with other sources. Read that admission alongside our risk map, and ask counsel who bears the risk in the contract.
