micro1 Spirit Airlines: the $12.5M offer explained

The short answer

micro1 Spirit Airlines offer was $12.5 million to Google's $10 million in a bankruptcy auction. micro1 filed to bid in September 2026, but no deal is approved. The court's ombudsman asked to research whether micro1 should de-identify the data itself instead of using an independent party.

What did micro1 offer?

Spirit Aviation Holdings filed for chapter 11 in the Southern District of New York on 29 Aug 2025. The ombudsman's filing records that micro1 filed a notice of intent to submit a competing and superior bid on 3 Sep 2026 (Doc. 1556).

Fortune put the figure at $12.5 million against Google's $10 million.

What is a trajectory, and why did labs pay?

Fortune explains that an AI agent has to learn how to choose actions, use tools and respond to intermediate results. The record of those steps is a trajectory, and a finished document can't give you one.

Spirit's archive holds about 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams messages and around 30 million lines of code (Time). My RL environment page shows where records like that get used.

What did the ombudsman say about micro1?

The Spirit Airlines ombudsman is a court appointee. She wrote that the debtors built the auction process around an independent expert doing the de-identification, and micro1 proposed to do it itself.

If the court considers micro1 as the successful bidder, she asked for the chance to research its proposal and whether micro1 is qualified to take the archive (Doc 1684).

Is the sale final?

No. Fortune reported that no sale had court approval, and I found no sale order. Check the docket before you quote any of this.

What does it mean for a company talking to micro1?

It is one filing about one bankruptcy, and a working company licenses under different terms, described in how micro1's data partnership works.

Still, it shows the question a court asked, which is who de-identifies the data. Ask micro1 the same question about yours, and read how micro1 handles names.
