What happens to my data after I license it to AI?

The short answer
After a deal, the data is transferred and checked. micro1's data partnership page says PII is removed when relevant, and micro1's David Revland described swapping names for consistent stand-ins. The contract decides retention and deletion. Troveo says models outlast the license.
Five things happen to a corpus after the deal, and the sources describe each one differently.
Who moves the data?
micro1's CFO said in an undated recorded forum talk that its forward-deployed engineers help your IT people with the transfer.
The CFO estimated about 10 hours over a week or two from one or two of your IT people (self-reported, recording undated). Our page on how long a transfer takes has the detail.
Who checks it before payment?
David Revland, who works on human data at micro1, said in the same talk that micro1 verifies the delivered data and then pays. That check is micro1's own step. Ask what it tests and what happens when part of the delivery fails.
What happens to the names?
micro1's page says PII "is removed when relevant." In an undated recorded forum talk, micro1's David Revland said micro1 swaps each name for a consistent stand-in across every tool.
The CFO said micro1 samples the result at several points before use, and micro1 staff said companies cannot scrub first. Swapped names can still count as personal data in some regimes, so ask who holds the mapping. See micro1 PII transformation.
How is the data used?
Time tied Google's Spirit Airlines bid to reinforcement learning environments, and Google told Time the data "can be helpful in improving our products and AI models." Fortune, reporting on micro1's offer, wrote that an agent learns to choose actions, use tools and recover from mistakes.
Epoch AI's review of the market doesn't say real company data fills today's environments. Our page on what AI labs do with company data lays out the three uses Epoch lists.
Is the data kept, and can it be deleted?
micro1's data partnerships page says data is retained only for agreed periods and that deletion requests are honored according to the terms of the engagement. It also says access is limited to a small number of authorized team members.
Deleting files doesn't undo training. Troveo's guide says models already trained survive the license ending, because nothing can be untrained. The deletion page covers what a regulator can order.
What belongs in writing?
The retention period, the deletion trigger, who sees the data, whether the buyer can resell derived products and who holds the name mapping.
Our buyers page records what each buyer publishes. The rights check lists what to settle before you talk to counsel, and our managed readiness service lines up the terms from each draft.
