micro1 data partnership Canada: who can apply?

The short answer

Canadian companies can apply. micro1 said in an undated recorded forum talk that it prefers US and Canadian companies and is open to others. Its data partnerships page lists the US, UK and Canada where demand is strongest. Its referral page says US Prioritized. All self-reported.

Three sources on the micro1 data partnership mention place. They agree on the US first and differ on who comes next.

What does each source say?

  • Recorded forum talk: prefers US and Canadian companies, open to others (recording, date not stated).
  • Data partnerships page: US companies, followed by other Western markets, with the United States, United Kingdom and Canada named for the strongest demand.
  • Referral page: "US Prioritized", then other Western markets, with no country named after the US.

Does a Canadian company follow a different process?

I found nothing saying so. The steps on the process page are the only ones micro1 has described, and they name no country.

Do the other thresholds change in Canada?

None of the sources adjusts them by country. micro1's current pages say 30 or more employees and primarily English documentation, and state no data-size threshold.

An undated micro1 forum talk gave different, earlier figures, and the requirements page dates both.

What about Canadian privacy rules?

Privacy law differs by country and province. The pages I read do not say how micro1 handles Canadian law, and I'm not giving legal advice.

Raise it with counsel, and ask micro1 where the data is stored and who can see it. How micro1 transforms names is the starting question.

What if you sit outside the US and Canada?

micro1 said in the talk that it is open to others, and its pages name other Western markets after the US. Neither says what that means for a company in your country, so ask on the first call.

Talk to a privacy or commercial lawyer in your province or state before you sign.
