A transcript is a customer's words sitting in your files. That is why the legal questions come before the market ones.
Who lists support conversations as a data type?
Two companies list support conversations:
- Troveo lists CRM, sales and support systems, among them Zendesk and Intercom. Its licensing guide names call recordings and support tickets as data types that have drawn real bids.
- micro1's data partnerships page describes support documentation, ticket workflows and QA processes for customer support teams.
What do transcripts hold that you cannot hand over?
Customer names, contact details and account facts, plus whatever customers said about third parties.
Troveo says it scrubs names, contact details, credentials and client identities to a documented standard before any AI company sees anything. micro1 says it removes personal information when relevant.
What do platform terms say about end users?
Zendesk's customer agreement says the customer retains ownership of its service data. It also says the customer must give notices to agents and end users, and get required consents from them. That lets Zendesk process the data lawfully. Its terms changed for existing customers on 1 Sep 2025. Whether a license fits your own privacy notice and customer contracts is a separate question for counsel.

Do recordings change the answer?
Yes. Audio carries voices, which brings wiretap and biometric law. The Otter.ai ruling concerned a vendor. I found no case against a company licensing its own lawfully recorded calls.
Read the call recordings page before any audio leaves. Talk to a privacy or commercial lawyer in your state before you sign.
What are transcripts worth?
No source gives a price for support transcripts. Troveo's guide says buyers rarely start from a rate card. It says value follows what a dataset lets a lab do that it cannot already do. My free fit check starts from what you hold.
