License Notion data to AI: export, terms and buyers

The short answer

A workspace owner exports the files to license Notion data to AI. Troveo and Mercor list Notion as a tool buyers want. By default, Notion doesn't train on customer data. Check rights first, since workspaces often hold pages written for clients. No published price exists for Notion data.

A Notion workspace holds specs, meeting notes and databases in one place. Troveo files it under work and knowledge tools.

Which companies name Notion?

Troveo lists Notion under work and knowledge, next to Jira, Linear and Asana. Mercor names Notion beside Slack, Confluence and GitHub.

micro1's data partnerships page lists knowledge bases and internal documentation without naming Notion. All three statements are the companies' own (self-reported). I found no price for Notion alone, and what labs pay shows what the companies do publish.

How does a Notion export work?

Notion's help page covers exporting a whole workspace as HTML, Markdown or CSV, plus uploaded files. It says exports can take up to 30 hours to process, depending on workspace size, and the download link expires after 7 days.

On Enterprise, organization owners can schedule recurring exports through the Admin APIs. I found no Notion page that reports total workspace size, so the finished export is the measure. Buyers ask about volume early, and the 1 TB question explains why.

What does Notion say about training?

Notion's AI security page says that by default Notion and its AI subprocessors do not use customer data to train any models. It adds that Notion has contracts with those subprocessors that bar training on customer data.

That sentence describes Notion's own use. Licensing is a different act, and it turns on who holds rights in the pages. I didn't read Notion's terms of service on ownership, so this page makes no claim about it.

What needs a rights check before an export leaves?

Workspaces often hold pages written for clients and shared with contractors or guests. That's my reading of how teams use Notion, not a Notion statement.

Client pages, signed-NDA material and personal data about staff or customers each carry a separate question.

Our rights check asks whose records these are, and what you cannot license lists the categories lawyers tell owners to leave out. Internal documents covers what buyers say about wikis and SOPs.
