Does my company have 1 TB of data? How to check your storage

The short answer

Admin reports from Google and Microsoft show your current storage, in megabytes. micro1's pages state no data-size threshold. 1 TB was an earlier figure from an undated micro1 forum talk. A storage count still helps you describe your records to any program.

Storage is the easy number to find, and it helps you describe your records on a first call. Whether the stored files can be licensed is a separate question.

How big is 1 TB in the reports?

The reports use megabytes. One terabyte is about 1,000,000 MB, or 1,000 GB. The figure is a convenient yardstick. In an undated recorded forum talk, micro1 staff named about 1 TB as an earlier expectation, and micro1's current pages state no size threshold.

A micro1 referral partner walking through the form in a micro1 video gave Google Workspace at about 3 TB and Slack at about 300 GB as example sizes (self-reported, about 2:30). They illustrate the form. They aren't thresholds, and they aren't your numbers.

Where do I find the numbers?

  • Google Drive: Admin console, Reporting, User Reports, Apps usage, column "Drive storage used (MB)". Google says user reports for Drive don't include changes made in shared drives, so the total can run low (Google Workspace Admin Help).
  • SharePoint: Microsoft 365 admin center, Reports, Usage, SharePoint, Site usage tab, column "Storage used (MB)" (Microsoft Learn).
  • OneDrive: the same Usage page, OneDrive, Usage tab, same column name. Microsoft says the report only includes users who have a valid OneDrive license (Microsoft Learn).
  • Slack: the export page lists file links, and gives no size report (Slack Help Center).

The Drive page walks through the Google report in detail.

What does the total leave out?

Storage counts everything, including duplicates, personal files and client documents. micro1 has not said how it measures a corpus, whether before or after cleaning, so ask. The inventory template gives you a row per tool for the sizes.

What if I am under 1 TB?

micro1's data partnerships page states no size threshold. Its current public criteria list 30+ employees, mature operations and primarily English documentation, with US companies prioritized.

Does size set what micro1 pays?

micro1's page lists tiers of $100K or more, $500K or more and $1M or more, tied to size, workflow complexity, quality, domain expertise and uniqueness. It publishes no rate per terabyte, and no outcome is promised. See what micro1 pays.
