AI lab or data lab profile

The General Data Company: what it takes, how it earns, what to check

Licenses anonymized operating records of industrial companies to AI labs and to manufacturers training their own models.

By Information, not legal adviceHow we are paid

Type
AI lab or data lab. Licenses or partners for the data itself, under its own agreement.
Legal entity
General Data Labs, Inc.
Data it wants

Company archives (finished projects, correspondence, orders, technical documentation, scanned folders), operational records (complaints, inspection and maintenance records, tickets, CRM, order and stock exports) and expertise (technical drawings, CAD models, change requests, commissioning records).

Who it takes

Industrial companies, including ones no longer trading. It takes only what no longer gives you an edge: current designs and prices stay with you.

Not stated. Anonymization runs under GDPR Article 28 on your instruction.

How it earns

Not published. It licenses the anonymized results to AI companies.

Process
  1. Describe formats, scope and content. A rough description is enough.
  2. After a confidentiality and data-processing agreement, it reviews a sample, your rights to it and its suitability.
  3. Agree scope, uses, recipients and payment in writing. No file moves before a signed agreement.
  4. It prepares, anonymizes and checks the data. Payment follows agreed milestones.
Payout claims
  • No figure published. Its FAQ says payment is a one-off price or a share of what it earns from licensing.
Security claims
  • No certification named on the page we read.
  • Says it carries tech errors-and-omissions and cyber insurance, set out in the agreement.
  • Says its contracts are drafted with an international law firm.
De-identification and privacy

Names, addresses and other identifiers are replaced with invented ones, consistently across documents.

Its model finds them, a person checks the result, and the key linking new names to real ones is then deleted.

Terms for companies
  • License or ownership. You set recipients and uses in writing and know who receives the data.

Customer or supplier records go in only if you hold the rights and no confidentiality agreement stands in the way.

  • Your warranties. Not published.
  • Your indemnity and audit. Not published.
  • Liability cap. Not published.
  • Governing law. Not published.

Check before you share anything

These are facts from the company's own pages or from news and court reports, listed so you can ask about them. They are not verdicts. Companies change their terms, so confirm each one on the company's own page.

  • No price range is published, and the page does not say when a revenue share applies instead of a one-off price.
  • Consistent replacement keeps documents linkable, so ask what checks guard against re-identification.
  • The contract is not public.
