By Information, not legal adviceHow we are paid

Type
Marketplace. Lists or licenses data to buyers and shares the revenue.
Legal entity
Opendatabay Ltd, registered in England and Wales (15711573)
Data it wants

Datasets of any kind, including AI and LLM training data, synthetic data, media and niche data.

Who it takes

Registered businesses, organizations or legal entities only, verified by KYC and KYB checks. You must own the data or hold the right to license it.

Not restricted on the pages we read. Prices are in US dollars.

How it earns

A platform fee on self-serve sales that slides from 30% on small sales to 5% above $250,000.

In brokered deals it takes a license at your price and sets its own price to the buyer.

Process
  1. Register as a data provider and pass business verification.
  2. Confirm your rights to the data and list it for free.
  3. Buyers license it self-serve, or Opendatabay brokers a deal by confirming files, scope and your price in writing.
  4. Self-serve sales pay out within 30 days of the end of the month, once your balance reaches $50. Brokered deals pay within 14 days of the buyer's cleared funds.
Payout claims
  • Fee schedule: 30% up to $100, falling step by step to 5% above $250,000, so the provider keeps 70% to 95% of the sale price.

Public figure, see sourceSelf-reported by the company unless marked reported.

Security claims
  • No certification named on the pages we read.
  • Says raw datasets are never exposed unless explicitly public.
De-identification and privacy

The provider is responsible. Data must be collected lawfully under UK GDPR, GDPR and CCPA. Opendatabay does not describe de-identifying data for you.

Terms for companies
  • License or ownership. In brokered deals you grant Opendatabay a non-exclusive, worldwide, transferable license within the confirmed scope, with the right to sublicense to the end client.

Self-serve sales use the license you pick for the listing.

  • Your warranties. In brokered deals you warrant that you are a registered legal entity and hold the rights to the files, at each confirmation and each delivery. For 12 months after delivery you may not grant an exclusive license over the same files.
  • Your indemnity and audit. You indemnify Opendatabay against claims over your data, including amounts it owes buyers. In brokered deals that indemnity has no cap.
  • Liability cap. Your cap is what you were paid for that data product in the prior 12 months, except the brokered-deal indemnity and warranties. Opendatabay's cap is its fee on that product over the same period.
  • Governing law. England and Wales, in the courts of London.

Check before you share anything

These are facts from the company's own pages or from news and court reports, listed so you can ask about them. They are not verdicts. Companies change their terms, so confirm each one on the company's own page.

  • In brokered deals the buyer's price and identity stay confidential, so you cannot see Opendatabay's margin.
  • A fee is owed on deals you close directly with a buyer it introduced, for 12 to 24 months.
  • Your brokered-deal indemnity and warranties have no cap.
